Job Description:
We are looking for a Data Sourcing Manager to support the
development of Sayari's high-value fast-growing global data assets.
This role requires a unique blend of open-source investigations
(subject matter expertise), business, and technical savvy. You will
be empowered to define what data sources power Sayari products by
collecting business requirements from product management
counterparts, and conducting return on investment analyses and
analytical relevance checks on all proposals you present.This role
is part of Sayari's Data Insights Lab, our team of data and
investigations experts who ensure that our software platforms are
backed by data assets that are comprehensive, relevant, up-to-date,
and optimally structured. You will report to the Director of Data
Sourcing and will be part of a dynamic and collaborative product
organization. This is a hybrid role, and we want candidates who
prefer to work flexibly from home and our main office in downtown
Washington, DC.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Data Scouting: Identify databases from public and/or commercial
sources that align with product and business requirements. You will
locate open source datasets and identify web scraping strategies to
keep our data library competitive. You will be accountable for
ensuring resilience by devising alternatives and contingency plans
to respond to changes in data availability.
- Data Licensing and Partnerships: With support from the Director
of Data Sourcing, close data licensing and partnership agreements
needed to fulfill product and business requirements. You will be
empowered to meet and negotiate directly with government and
third-party data providers. You will manage vendor relationships
within your portfolio to ensure uninterrupted data access.
- Data Extraction: Support the continued development of data
schemas with new data acquisitions and ensure that data parsers
accurately reflect the original source data you integrate. You will
be fully accountable for conducting quality checks on the data you
bring on board, and for identifying and implementing improvements
in the data extraction process to ensure it not only maintains
fidelity to the original data but also exceeds user
expectations.
- Data Backlog Management: Organize and prioritize data-related
tasks, requests, or projects based on return on investment and
business need, with the end goal of ensuring Sayari is always
bringing the most trustworthy data to market. You will be actively
consulted to ensure that Data Engineers are working at optimal
capacity.
- Performance Metrics and Analysis: Define and track key
performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success of data
sources, data freshness, and data extraction initiatives in your
portfolio. You will use data-driven insights to inform iterative
improvements and ensure that your output meets both user needs and
business objectives.
- Manage Data Documentation: Maintain and constantly improve all
data documentation relevant to your portfolio including but not
limited to: dashboards, spreadsheets, FAQs, source descriptions,
budget files, etc. You will be responsible for ensuring our partner
teams have timely and easy access to the information they need
about our data assets.
- Maintain Data Availability Expertise: Keep apprised of new
public disclosure legislation, establishment of ultimate beneficial
owner registries, etc. as relevant to your portfolio. You will be
the in-house expert on public disclosure and global transparency
regulations.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage closely with product
management and data engineering stakeholders on ideation,
prioritization, and execution of data acquisition initiatives in
the product roadmap. Your role will be critical in getting buy-in
from stakeholders efficiently.
- Maintain Domain Expertise: You will need to keep your knowledge
and skills sharp in order to stay effective in this role. You will
proactively maintain your product and domain expertise by regularly
using our products, engaging with Solutions and customers,
following market and regulatory trends, and more.Required Skills &
Experience
- 3-5+ years of professional experience working with global
commercial data, trade data, risk data for Sayari priority domains,
or other relevant data types
- Experience conducting business deals in international settings,
with a proven track record of closing agreements effectively
- Familiarity with Sayari and/or other investigative and supply
chain risk management software
- Experience with GitHub, SuperSet, MixPanel, Hex, and BigQuery;
general technical fluency and/or interest
- Thrives on new challenges and comfortable wearing many hats;
start-up mindset with experience in high-growth/SaaS
environments
- Strong writing and presentation skills
- BS or BA degreeDesired Skills & Experience
- Foreign language proficiency in one or more of the following
languages: Chinese, Russian, French, Spanish, German, Arabic,
Farsi
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in the
trade/corporate investigations and risk management fields
- Coding (Python), data science, or related experience$100,000 -
$120,000 a yearThe target base salary for this position is
$100,000-$120,000 plus a quarterly bonus and equity. Final offer
amounts are determined by multiple factors including location,
local market variances, candidate experience and expertise,
internal peer equity, and may vary from the amounts listed
above.
